Thought provoking PSAs about Cyberbullying and Sexting

  1. Cyberbullying PSA - This PSA contains some questionable language but the message is strong. This would be more appropriate for high school students. It shows how cyberbullying can lead to teen suicide and the legal consequences for participating in the act.
  2. Cyber-Bullying PSA -A PSA created by teens that shows how cyberbullying can sometimes lead to teen suicide.
  3. THE CYBER BULLYING VIRUS- A short film featuring a unique look at cyberbullying as a deadly virus being transmitted among teens.
  4. Talent Show - Cyberbullying Prevention Commercial - This PSA depicts a student saying mean and hurtful things about another student as part of a talent show act sending the message that we wouldn't say these things out loud so they shouldn't be posted either.
  5. Sexting PSA - Students will hopefully get the message that once an image is sent, you can't take it back.

Digital Footprints

  1. Helping Students Create Positive Digital Footprints - Most times we hear about the negatives of digital footprints. This article focuses on ways to create positive digital footprints.
  2. Privacy Student Intro Video - The Digital Footprint - This video has no words but still packs a powerful message about creating a digital footprint. Information is shared on managing your privacy while online.
  3. Connected Culture Student Intro Video -- Our Connected Culture - This short videos looks at both negative and positive ways to digitally communicate and respond to others.
  4. 21 things 4 students: Digital Footprint - An online activity directs students through various "quests" to understand digital footprints and how to create positive and prevent negative footprints.

Pennsylvania Cyberbullying and Sexting Laws and Information

  1. Cyberbullying Outline- This is a PDF that gives Pennsylvania and federal court cases that deal with cyberbullying, laws and consequences of such actions, and resources to help prevent it.
  2. Pennsylvania Attorney General: Cyber Bullying - This site shares information about cyberbullying including a definition, statistics, and links to additional sites (i.e. tips for parents, tips for schools and teachers, students in middle school, etc.)
  3. Laws Pertaining to Sexting in the Commonwealth of PA - What are the consequences of sexting in Pennsylvania? Check out this site. You will also find links to current news items in Pennsylvania related to sexting.

Resources to teach appropriate digital communication

  1. Eye on Bullying Toolkit - This link will take you to a website where you can download a 43 page bullying prevention program. Included in the program are strategies and resources to address bullying.
  2. Cyberbullying Research Center - This site includes downloadable resources for teens, teachers, and parents, as well as reference materials.
  3. Stop Bullying.gov - This site includes definitions, videos, prevention strategies at school and in the community, responding to bullying, and places to get help.
